Amaya dragon prince sign language11/27/2023 ![]() Unfortunately, Amaya is quite prejudiced toward elves, but hopefully, she will come to see the error of her ways in time. One of her soldiers, Gren (Adrian Petigrew), serves as her translator since most people can’t read signs. She uses sign language and can read lips. She serves as the commander at the border with Xadia. Like Toph (Jessie Flower), while Amaya is differently-abled, she is quite powerful. She is also deaf, which is incredibly rare to see on television and so important. The Dragon Prince ’s General Amaya is powerful. General AmayaĪmaya is rather a minor character, only appearing in two episodes, but she is immediately she through Viren, so props to her. By Alex Barasch Sep 21, 2018, 12:51pm EDT General Amaya (center) with her interpreter, Commander Gren (left), and Prince Callum (right). Without the wit and edge that made Azula so weirdly lovable, Claudia falls flat. Callum struggles to control his magic, General Amaya clashes with Lord Viren, and a trip down the river takes a hair-raising turn. I was worried she would just be Callum’s crush, but she definitely has a storyline of her own. He isn’t forced to wrestle with it very much, though, at least in season one.Ĭlaudia is much more her father’s daughter as a fellow mage with a screwed-up moral compass. Soren is a stereotypical jock, except he seems to have a conscience. You could tell from the context that she was both smug and flirty (odd to be able to pick up context without being able to read sign language at all), and just knowing what we know of Amaya I assumed it was something akin to 'she totally digs me.' I'm happy to see I was that close. Yes, they should be their own characters, but they are much more boring. Sadly, neither of them is Zuko (Dante Basco) and neither of them is Azula (Grey DeLisle), by any stretch. 128K views, 8.1K likes, 130 comments, 438 shares, Facebook Reels from Jon Urquhart: Dragon Prince: General Amaya ASL-only scene voiceover ASL americansignlanguage signlanguage. He’s certainly sociopathic and goes to extremes that propel the plot, but he can be predictable. He tasks Claudia with recovering the egg and Soren with killing the princes. When visiting Sarai's grave, she signs to her that she thought of her as her hero and clearly looked up to her. Big Brother Worship: In her case, sister. He sends his children, Claudia and Soren (Jesse Inocalla), off on a mission. Beware the Quiet Ones: Amaya is deaf, and speaks through sign language, but she also happens to be a deadly and skilled fighter. 'I trust you Now that you've become a voice for me you are my savior' Just in case anyone was wondering. ![]() ![]() : r/TheDragonPrince by drmoo314 SPOILER My mom is a sign language interpreter and she said this is what Amaya says to Gren before she leaves. His plan goes awry when General Amaya, Harrow’s sister-in-law, reveals that the princes are, in fact, alive. My mom is a sign language interpreter and she said this is what Amaya says to Gren before she leaves. He is the last person seen with Harrow, and he immediately tries to appoint himself Lord Protector of the Realm after Harrow’s death, claiming the princes were also killed. S3: EP 1 AMAYA & GREN REUNION SCENE AT THE BREACH Gren shows up. sweatdrops I will only translate what has not been interpreted. Sorry to anyone who sent me a message about it shortly after S3 got released. What we as the audience don’t know is whether Viren actually killed Harrow. My ASL translation for Season 1 My ASL translation for Season 2 Here’s my translation for Season 3 a couple of months late. ![]() He sends off a special arrow to alert the elves of Xandia that mission succeeded before he is captured. “How’s my face look?” And “Not great, but you should see the other guy.Though we don’t see him die, King Harrow’s demise is implied at the end of episode three. As it’s Amaya, her humor could go either way. Amaya is often accompanied by Gren, her most trusted lieutenant and Sign Language interpreter. This doesn’t translate very well, as OH-I-SEE is a sign language expression, but she’s potentially mocking his unfortunate hand gesture, or potentially just making light of him making his own “sign”, it’s hard to be sure. It’s missing the past tense signifier but the translation is roughly “I saw elves on the breach near our outpost.” Referencing her earlier fight.ģ:43: NO SOMETHING WRONG ESTABLISH SEARCH GROUPĮxactly as it sounds, with English being “No something’s wrong ready a search party.”Īgain literally that, but interesting to note he signs it small to avoid detection.
